A message from the Division Administrator...

My last message in this space outlined the drastic cuts that MHDS was facing this winter. As we have moved through spring, and this exciting legislative session, it appears that some of the most drastic predictions may be averted. One such example, the Fernley Mental Health Clinic, which had been closed, will re-open with help of Federal funds. Also, the funding for substance abuse prevention and treatment remains level.

We have been able to maintain our services to Nevadans who need them. The number of jobs lost has been greatly reduced from the original estimates. While the necessary changes have not been painless, the MHDS team has gone to great effort to minimize the impacts of these cuts on both staff and people receiving our services, and the team can be proud of those efforts.
